Chunky Cowl Crochet Pattern

Here is a very simple pattern on how to crochet a chunky cowl. This pattern is great for fall and winter time. Wear this with a sweater, coat, or a simple long sleeve shirt. This pattern took me less than an hour to make and looks great in any color. Hope you like it.

Hook:

I used a 10mm hook which is the largest that I have and it worked great for making a chunky look to the cowl.

Yarn:

Buy any chunky yarn. I purchased "Patons Classic Wool" in bulky.

Pattern:

Chain 60 or how ever wide you want it to be.  Join with slip stitch to 1st ch.

Round 1: Chain 3. Skip 1 chain and double crochet in the next chain, then chain 1. Repeat this pattern (skip 1, dc, ch 1) all the way around. Then slip stitch to 3rd chain of initial Chain 3 (30 dc).

Round 2: Slip stitch into Ch 1 "space" (these are the bigger holes).  Chain 3.  Then double crochet into the next Ch 1 "space" and then chain 1. Do this pattern (dc into space, chain 1) all the way around. Then slip stitch to 3rd chain of initial Ch 3 (30 dc).

Round 3-13: Repeat Round 2

Once you end the 13th round, cut off the yarn and fasten off the end and weave in the beginning and end. You should end up with a beautiful cowl.
